Stretch and sweep at 40w 1d?

My midwife appointment is tomorrow and she has said she may do a stretch and sweep, if unsuccessful then I will be induced on friday (40w 5d) because I had a car accident at 35 weeks. My tummy took the full impact but scans and monitoring have shown us that the baby is ok (luckily). I am in alot of pain however because the impact made my baby think it was time for labour but my body wasn't ready. Don't want to be induced. Have tried sex, walking, curries. I was just wondering whether the stretch and sweep procedure worked for you? how far along were you? was it painful? etc and do have any ideas of natural inducement?
