Laptop wont boot up after a system restore was performed?

So I spent a week making a slideshow with proshow gold after I attempted to burn my video to a dvd (which failed) my computer kept not responding. I decided to to a system restore to the day before I attempted the burn. Now that I've done the restore the computer will not fully boot up. It gives me the option to boot in safe mode which I've tried and was unsuccessful, so I choose the option to boot in regular mode. From there instead of going to the screen where you can choose your user log on it just goes to a black screen. You can see a cursor and move it around but thats the extent of it. I've tried ctrl,alt,delete and that did absolutely nothing. Please Please Help I must get my photo off of this computer.
